Green Drinks! Its where the Pittsburgh Green Elite Meet

At twilight, it was a scene from Moulin Rouge as I arrived at the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern, recently for a Green Drinks Event, this one hosted by a smiling, green stripe-shirted, Senator Ferlo, (Jimmy) showing off his new drain "puppy" named Monty, a robot whose job is to run down sewage pipes, take pictures then return, attach itself to a manhole cover and hang like a bat (but more about that later).

What is Green Drinks? To paraphrase the Green Drinks Website: every month, people who work in the environmental field or

have an interest in a greener planet, meet up for drinks at places all around the world at informal sessions known as Green Drinks. Come along and you'll be made welcome, mixing with government, NGO members, artists, vegan business types and other green folk. Green Drinks is a great way of catching up with people you know and also for making new contacts. Everyone invites someone else along, so there's always a different crowd, making Green Drinks an organic, self-organizing network. These events are very simple and unstructured. Make friends, develop new ideas, do deals and forge a new organic future. Green Drinks meets on the 3rd Friday of each month from 5:00 - 9:00 PM...or later!! Put it in your calendar and count on it: Green Drinks is happening every month and includes 457 cities world wide! Get invitations by joining the "Pittsburgh" area group on the Green Drinks website mentioned above.
